Summit of Materials Science 2026 and GIMRT User Meeting 2026

November 24-26, 2026

Institute for Materials Research (IMR), Tohoku University operate the user program named “Global Institute for Materials Research Tohoku (GIMRT)”, which promotes international collaborations in materials science and related areas. Since 2018, it has been supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology as one of seven “International Joint Usage/ Research Centers”.
We hope the SMS2026 & GIMRT User Meeting 2026 will stimulate international exchange and collaborations in the materials science community. On behalf of IMR, I am privileged to invite you cordially to join this event.

The Summit of Materials Science (SMS2026) is a comprehensive international conference on materials science established by the Institute for Materials Research in 2012. This year, it will be co-hosted with the GIMRT User Meeting.
The conference aims to promote cross-disciplinary exchange by inviting a wide range of prominent researchers, as well as mid-career and young researchers, from Japan and abroad. We hope that many people will join this meeting.
